Four persons arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo State Command by the Intelligence and Investigation department of the command for offences bothering on impersonation in the 2023 UTME, appeared in court.
The Federal High court sitting in Akure remanded the four accused persons for registration impersonation and examination malpractices of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exam in Ondo State.
The suspects are Timilehin Akinwale ‘m’, 22yrs, Olayinka Mustapha Idris ‘m’ 23yrs, Peter Okereke ‘m’ 29yrs and Feranmi Adesuyi ‘m’, 29yrs.
While Feranmi Adesuyi on 28th day of April 2023 at Amable Nig LTD CBT centre, Owo, during the 2023 JAMB examination conspired with one Sanusi Tunde who is now at large, to complete his registration and also impersonate the said Sanusi Tunde for JAMB exam, the trio of Okereke Peter, Akinwale Timilehin and Mustapha Olayinka Idris on the 15th day of February, 2023 at Aina Awaw International College Ilu-Abo CBT Centre for JAMB registration and examination impersonated Folarin Damlok, Kazeem Imisi Olamilekan and Tijani Babatunde Sheun respectively during CBT JAMB registration.
The offences contravenes sections 3(3)(c) and 10 of Examination Malpractice Act, Cap E15, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria , 2004.
The prosecuting Counsel , M.I Osimen urged the court to remand the defendants at the Olokuta Correctional Centre pending the date for hearing.
The presiding judge, Justice T.B Adegoke thereby ordered the defendants to be remanded at Olokuta Correctional centre and adjourned the case to 12th July, 2023 for hearing.
