
The Alumni Association of Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo, has reacted to the appointment of its national president, Dr Festus Olowogboyega who was recently appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a member representing Osun and Oyo states on the board of Federal Civil Service Commission as a well deserved one.
While affirming its position on this appointment, the association described it as a round peg in a round hole. It further described Dr Olowogboyega as quintessential man of high pedigree with multiple experiences who will add more value to the restructuring of the civil service in the country.
Olowogboyega, who was one time Head of Service in Osun state, Secretary to the government of Osun, an erudite scholar, an educationist per excellence and intellectual legal luminary was seen as a goal getter who will never betray the trust repose in him by President Tinubu.
In a release signed by AFUED Alumni national Public Relations Officer, Hon Omoloye Oluwatuyi, the association appreciates President Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Dr Olowogboyega into the sensitive position.
It will be recalled that president Tinubu, in line with Section 154 of the Nigerian Constitution (1999, Amended) which empowers the president to appoint the Chairman and members of Federal Civil Servicr Commission, had approved the appointment of fourteen (14)Nigerians to serve on the board of the commission.
The appointment which is subject to the confirmation of the Senate, has Prof.Tunji Olaopa as Chairman, while Dr. Daudu Ibrahim Jalo (Representing Adamawa | Gombe | Taraba), Ms. Gekpe Grace Isu (Representing Akwa Ibom | Cross River), Dr. Chamberlain(Representing Anambra | Ebonyi | Enugu), Mr. Rufus N. Godwins (Representing Rivers | Delta | Bayelsa),
Dr. Adamu Hussein (Representing Niger | FCT), Mr. Aminu Nabegu (Representing Jigawa | Kano), Ms. Hindatu Abdullahi (Representing Kaduna | Katsina), Mr. Shehu Aliyu (Representing Kebbi | Sokoto | Zamfara), Ms. Odekunle Rukiyat Aduke (Representing Kogi | Kwara), Mr. Jide Jimoh (Representing Lagos | Ogun), Dr. Festus Oyebade (Representing Osun | Oyo) as members.
It is expected that the appointment will take effect from November 30,2023 after confirmation by the Senate.
Accordingly, the new FCSC leadership
is expected to competently facilitate the transformation agenda of president Tinubu’s administration.
