
As part of efforts , making Nigeria democracy work efficiently, prominent Nigerians have suggested that the time has come for the leaders to do the needful im making the system work as expected.
Speaking at the weekend , during the Biennial Re Union get together of the ex Ondo state University ,Ado Ekiti (Osuites) 94/95 set, at Tayville Academy, Akure, a University don ,Professor Afolabi Popoola, who spoke on the theme :
Democracy and Economy In Nigeria
Problems, Benefit and way forward , said though Nigerians prefer the democratic system of government to the militocracy system where citizens are forced to do things
He said further that democracy has brought many benefits but that the problems are becoming over bearing considering , corruption, misallocation of resources and favouritism leading to insecurity.
He therefore suggested that the necessary correction on all these should be done to reduce the consequences that Nigerians are currently facing.
Olayato Aribo, an industrialist cum philanthropist in his view, urged the Federal government of Nigeria to do everything possible within its reach ,in alleviating the sufferings of the masses ,so as to make the country a better place to living.
Also Hon. Abidakun Omotayo, Jaja, clamoured for the assistance government could give to farmers mostly in the area of equipment and fertilizers that can add value to production ,thereby making food available for the common man.
The event was graced with a lot of spices – Cultural display, award presentation to well -meaning Nigerians who have contributed to the society positively one way or the other.
