Atunluse initiatives has berated the five Ondo State members of House of Representatives over their very unwarranted attack on the state governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
“We equally appeal to them that they should encourage Mr President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to concentrate, and find a way to address the current biting economic hardship facing the masses.”
“It is very unfortunate that instead of the legislators thinking and working visibly hard in legislating and carrying out their over-sight role on how to make life easier for the masses by working with the executive arm of government to formulate policies that will improve the living standard of Nigerians, they rather are busy going from one media house to another on frivolities that have coloration of the inglorious politics that enveloped the state all through last year.”
The five Reps members had in a press briefing in Abuja on Friday, claimed that they had written to President Bola Tinubu, to complain that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa was segregating against loyalists of the late Governor Akeredolu. Incidentally, they never told Ondo state people the yard stick for measuring who is Akeredolu’s loyalist and who is not Akeredolu’s loyalist and how all their allegations are affecting governance and lives of the people of Ondo State.
Atunluse in a terse statement signed by the state chairman of the organisation, Otunba Akinsola Akinbobola, and made available to newsmen by the secretary of the media team, condemned the five honourable members for playing bitter politics of do or die contrary to the mandate by which the people sent them to Abuja as representatives.
The apolitical group added, that the five House members abandoned their primary assignment in Abuja, stoking the embers of discord in the state instead of joining hands with the governor to deliver the very much needed dividend of democracy to the people of the state in particular and Nigerians in general.
Akinbobola said: “In as much as our organisation is not part of the All Progressives Congress (APC), we are keenly following events as it unfolds in Ondo State. The suffering people of Ondo State are our focal point and priority.
“We can confidently say that Ondo State has witnessed relative political peace since the coming onboard of Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa which is ofcourse expected to translate to accelerated development and progress.
“Suffice to say that the Governor has provided the needed leadership within a few weeks in Alagbaka Government house. He should be encouraged to deliver.”
The people have suffered enough of negative politics that’s affecting governance negatively and bringing hardship on the people.
“While we in Atunluse will not stop politicians from playing their game in a way that they know how best to, we will advise they play it with utmost decorum, without bitterness and with consideration on it’s critical effect on the masses.”
“We wouldn’t have dignified the five House of Reps members with any reaction or response if their action had been a struggle that is pointed at better life for the people and speaking for the good people of Ondo State without any parochial interest.
“Our findings confirmed that all the five members are either Director General for one
Governorship aspirant’s campaign organization or the other in the forth-coming primary election of the APC”
As an apolitical group, we admonish the five members of the House of Representatives to devote their time on major issues, especially the core reason the people in their constituencies sent them to Abuja. This is obviously to legislate on the areas of concern in their constituency.
