…Promises To provide Support For Aged, Women
… Praises Tinubu For Returning Power To Grassroots
It was an exhilarating moment on Easter Monday as the Campaign Council of Chief Olusola Oke, SAN, hit Igbokoda, the headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area.
The team, that was joined few metres to Holy Trinity Primary School, Igbokoda, venue of the programme, joined the exciting crowd to dance to the venue of the event.
The visitation of the Oke Campaign Council was in continuation of the engagements with the select APC unit, ward and local government leaders of in the local government area.
In his goodwill message at the event, the Ilaje APC chairman, Hon. Raphael Adegboye, described Oke as a household name in not just Ilaje and Ondo state, but in Nigeria.
Adegboye reminded the party faithful of efforts made by Oke over the years to respond to the welfare needs of party leaders.
“Oke is well read, experienced and competent. We shall support him,” he said.
Addressing the crowd, Oke enumerated his contributions to the local government area and Ondo state when he had the opportunities to serve in the past.
Oke, who reminded the people that it was time good things returned to Ilaje, said: “I awarded the road contract to Araromi. I facilitated roads to many towns in Ilaje. I built bridges, jetties, and created employments.”
The governorship aspirant promised to bring back Ayetoro technical school, ensure restoration of electricity, build more roads in Ilaje and support the aged and women if elected as governor.
He said he suffered lack of water, electricity and bad roads with the people, adding that he was in politics for the good of the people of Ondo state.
“I have lived all my life with you. In Ilaje, I was a teacher, fisherman, choir/singer, and gari farmer. I was with you during your challenges,” Oke said.
The gathering became more intriguing as the people shouted that they preferred 9 years to 5 years tenure opportunity to be served by somebody of Ilaje extraction.
Recall that the incumbent governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, could only constitutionally serve one term of four years after swearing to an oath to complete the tenure he jointly held with the Late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Oke took a swipe at his opponents who have been attacking him for marrying an Ibo wife and condemned attempts to trivialise good governance on the altar of mundane considerations.
He described his two wives as wonderful human beings, reiterating that he was in firm control of his home.
The APC aspirant had earlier commended President Bola Tinubu for returning power to the grassroots through direct primary, charging the APC leaders and members not to abuse the opportunity.
Some leaders of the APC that graced the occasion were Hon. Folorunso Ofoesua, Otunba Sam Obasuaye Kokor, Hon. Oyebo Aladetan, Engr. Glory Okuntade and Hon. Mrs. Funmileyi Omogbemi.
Characteristic of his engagements with the APC members, Oke led the crowd to sing at different times, as he had first led the people to observe a minute silence in memory of the late Governor Akeredolu and Paul Akintelure, a gubernatorial aspirant who died a week ago.
