…Urges Muslims to embrace to embrace the tenets of the fast
…Charges politicians to play by the rules, residents to eschiew violence
A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 2024 Gubernatorial election in Ondo State, Chief Alexander Olusola Oke has congratulated Muslim Umar on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.
Oke, who described Eid ul-Fitr as a very important festival for Muslims thanked Allah for the strength given to the faithful to complete the all important 30 days fast as commanded by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
“It is vital in the Islamic calendar and Prophet Muhammad himself started it as the Feast of Breaking the Fast and Muslims worldwide celebrate it to mark the end of Ramadan.”
While congratulating the faithful for the celebration, Oke urged both Muslims and non-Muslims to imbibe the lessons of Ramadan which includes sacrifice, soberness, and abstinence from all evils beyond the period of the fast.
He specifically called on leaders and members of political parties to eschiew violence and imbibe the spirit of tolerance and peace as they gear up for their primaries holding this month ahead of the governorship election in November.
Oke specifically noted that it is not a coincidence that the primaries are coming up in this holy month of Ramadan but a divine arrangement to make the elections a huge success in Ondo State.
He therefore called on the politicians to play by the rule and urged citizens to embrace peace at all times.
