…as Oke closes engagements with critical stakeholders
…charges supporters not to be intimidated
Ahead of the APC governorship primary in Ondo State, holding on Saturday 20th April, 2024, the political fortunes of Chief Olusola Oke, SAN, has continued to receive a boost as more party chieftains collapsed their structures in support of his aspiration.
This was confirmed at a stakeholders meeting held in Akure on Friday.
Those who declared support for Oke’s ambition included supporters of Chief Segun Abraham, APC governorship aspirant in 2016, Late Dr. Paul Akintelure, governorship aspirant in the current election, as well as members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
At the event, Abraham’s supporters trooped out in their large numbers to declare their support for Chief Oke on the order of their principal, citing competence, empathy, grassroots presence and political sagacity of Oke as reasons for their decision.
Also, scores of NURTW members, representing their union across the State, openly declared Oke as their preferred candidate and promised to mobilise their members to vote massively for him.
It would be recalled that supporters of late Dr. Akintelure, led by their Campaign DG, had earlier in the week collapsed their structures for Chief Oke.
Oke used the opportunity to reinstate his plans for the state, when elected as the candidate of the party and eventually as governor.
“Don’t be intimidated. If they are popular, they will not be threatening violence. Tomorrow is our day. God has done it, and we shall celebrate. Ensure you follow up the results from unit to ward level, and eventually to the local government collation centres, to avoid manipulation”.
The massive crowd took time to praise God, as special prayers were offered for Oke, as promises of financial supports were made by some of his supporters
