
The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as the Amotekun Corps, on Monday, 13th May, 2024 paraded no fewer than 45 suspected criminals in the state within the last 2 weeks
The suspects according to the State Commander of Amotekun, Adetunji Adeleye were apprehended for engaging in various nefarious acts across the 18 local government areas of the state.
Particularly, one of the suspects, 17 years old Sunday Adegbulu, was trailed and caught after having sustained serious injuries from electricity burns while vandalizing and stealing from transformer wires and electricity cables.
“His gang members numbering about 9 criminals and their godfather who are now at large have already been identified. We trailed him to his new location and had to spend a lot of money to revive him’”, he said.
Another criminal paraded simply identified as Jubril is a suspected kidnapper, who was re- arrested within 48 hours of being released on a similar count charge when residents and the traditional ruler of a particular community raised alarm of another impending kidnap.
Other cases include those who specializes in vandalizing electricity wires from buildings, Burglars, as well as those arrested for cultism.
Out of the 45 suspects paraded, the State Commander of the security network said 7 of them are in court.
He however used the opportunity to appeal to the good people of the state to continue to provide timely information to its men stressing that 70% of those arrested were based on timely information from the people.
On the part of the government, the state commander reassured the people of government’s commitment to guaranteeing safety of lives and properties of all citizens in the state.
