As November 16th gubernatorial election in Ondo state draws closer, political parties have started aligning and realigning to solidify their stands in the minds of the people.
It was another set- back completely in the camp of the Social Democratic party SDP in the state as the Governorship candidate of the party, Dr Shola Agboola , Executive members and their allies moved enmass to the rulling All Progressives Congress APC in rallying support for the mandate of Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa as governor of the state in the coming election slated for November 16th ,2024.
The Convener and the Chairman of the party in the state, Dr. Tope Ajulo who gave reasons why all of them are moving to the other side pointed out that, the party lacks direction and focus
He said this on Thursday at the SDP office along Oyemekun/ Ilesha road , Akure ,the Ondo State Capital that, the leaders of the party in Abuja are found of using the party to negotiate at every election season.
Ajulo emphasized that, such action diminishes a party and takes away credibility from such party
” At every point in time of election, the leaders in Abuja do trade off the party neglecting those in states ” Ajulo said
Some of the members of the party who spoke with our reporter said ,the leaders have suffered members a lot by using their resources to finance the party whereas , negotiations must have been perfected in Abuja,leaving them for their fates
While responding, the governor of the state, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by his deputy, Chief Olayide Adelami appreciated the executive members and other members of the party who deemed it fit to join the winning train
Aiyedatiwa, said further that, the Social Democratic – All Progressives Congress SDAPC will be given room to operate freely as there is no segregation in the party , assuring all and sundry that, all their interest will be protected.
Thousands of party executive and members openly declared for Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa as governor of the state ahead of the coming governorship election.
