Bamiwo Foundation has donated the sum of over a million naira to 25 students from five schools during a church Thanksgiving service in memory of late Deaconess Esther Oluwabamiwo Fadamiro.
The foundation made the donation yesterday Sunday 18th of August 2024 at Christ Apostolic Church, Oke-Imole District Headquarters, Ajibeye Street Ayeyemi Ondo City, in Ondo West Local Government area of Ondo State.
The students whose parents are struggling financially receive the sum of #50,000 each for their academic excellence.
They expressed their appreciation to the Bamiwo foundation while adding that the gesture will enable them to pursue their academic dreams.
Engineer Oluwaseyi Fadamiro, Founder and Chairman of the foundation said: “Bamiwo foundation was created to help students reach their maximum potential through education and community engagement.”
He added that “We do all this by awarding merit-based scholarship as well as encouraging mentorship within the community.”
Co-founder, Prof. Henry Fadamiro, a professor and associate Vice president at Texas A&M University in the United States says: “the foundation was established in the year 2023 in honour of their late mother Deaconess Esther Oluwabamiwo Fadamiro who passed on to glory in 2023 at the ripe age of 100 years.”
The philanthropist added that “when our mother was alive, she was an advocate and champion for education, she valued so much that she would rather sell her property to support children, not only her own children but even other members of the community. When she passed on, we thought that the one thing to do to continue her legacy is to create a scholarship foundation named after her. Bamiwo Foundation“
He said ” this is the second year of the foundation, last year we presented awards to 10 students from two schools in Ondo City and this year we are happy to have expanded the beneficiary list.”
Engineer Ayokunke Fadamiro, a board member, who also resides in the United States promised that “the foundation will build on the legacy of Late Deaconess Esther Fadamiro”.
Members of the Foundation trustee while speaking to newsmen say the foundation is committed to giving back to the community especially children.
