As the first lady of the country visits the sunshine state this week, 17th and 18th of April, like every states she has visited, the wives of the governors have been in forefront with other female political appointees welcomed and cheered -up the visitor but however, who will now do such in Ondo state to welcome the first woman of the federation.
Moreover, the good people of Ondo state, may not continue to fold hands as if things are normal or that everything is working as expected mostly when the office of Her Excellency is regarded as “Office of the first Nonsense “
Moreso, since the inception of this democracy in 1999, either we like it or not, all executive governors in the state from Chief Adebayo Adefarati, Dr Olusegun Agagu, Dr Olusegun Mimiko to Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu had at one time or the other, opened door for their wives to have a supportive body that would engage and empower women at the other hand so as to make life more meaningful for the womenfolds
But till today, the rationale behind not having such an office in the state is beyond what we can ever imagined.
So far, so good, Ondo state is not at the moment enjoying the benefits of the office like it used to be in the past.
Politicians across boards in the state are not saying anything about it, the women fold are suffering politically either directly or indirectly at the other edge then the question to ask ourselves is that
” who will receive Mrs Tinubu in the state as first lady of the state and how will she feel not being welcomed by her fellow first lady but rather another person or persons entirely?
Well, there is a popular Yoruba saying that
” l’aye olugbon, ko ri bayii, l’aye aresa, ko ri bee , l’aye orogun, ilu tuba, ilu tuse ‘literarily – things were not like this during our forefathers
All Ondo state sons and daughters should not just fold hands to this challenge but rather pray in their closets for the state.
I personally believe that at the end of the tunnel, there shall be light… IRE O
