The attention of the Ondo State Government has been drawn to a sensational press statement issued by Mr. Wándé T. Àjàyí, Director of Media and Public Communications of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ondo State Chapter, alleging that the convoy of His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, knocked down a young citizen, Master Goodness Olawumi Emiju, while returning from the Thank-You Tour in Oka Akoko on Monday, 15th December, 2025.
The statement further alleged that the victim was initially rushed to the General Hospital, Oka Akoko, and later transferred to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, where he eventually passed on.
While the Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, deeply empathises with and extends his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family—particularly the father, Mr. Emiju Samson Abiodun, and the mother, Mrs. Emiju Christianah Omotayo—as well as to the good people of Oka Akoko, over the unfortunate and tragic death of the young and promising Master Goodness Emiju, it is pertinent and necessary to categorically clarify that the Governor’s convoy was neither responsible for nor involved in any accident on that day, or on any day since the commencement of the Thank-You Tour across the 18 LGAs of the State.
Contrary to the false allegation, the unfortunate incident was caused by a police operational vehicle attached to the Officer-in-Charge (O.C.) Scorpion, which was on a separate assignment at the time of the occurrence. The police officers involved promptly conveyed the victim to the hospital, and officials of the Nigeria Police Force are currently engaging with the family following the victim’s demise.
Once again, the Ondo State PDP is strongly advised to verify its facts before rushing to issue incorrect, mischievous, and sensational press statements capable of causing unnecessary tension and apprehension in the state.
This infantile and irresponsible circulation of falsehoods, masquerading as opposition politics, is antithetical to responsible democratic engagement and good governance.
