The Coalition for Good Governance on Monday accused the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, of allegedly approving the sale of two sets of congress forms for Benue State.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, leaders of the group claimed the action had split the Benue APC into rival factions.

They alleged that following a meeting between President Bola Tinubu, APC governors and members of the party’s National Working Committee, it was agreed that only governors would purchase congress materials for their states.

According to the coalition, Governor Hyacinth Alia paid for and collected the forms in line with that agreement.

However, it claimed that another set of forms was later sold to associates of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, allegedly paving the way for parallel congresses.

The group alleged that the development could spark unrest and diminish the party’s electoral prospects in Benue State.

It urged President Tinubu to order an immediate investigation into the alleged transaction and ensure party discipline.

The coalition also appealed to security agencies to maintain neutrality during the congresses to avoid escalating tensions
