Many parents who have their wards in Public Primary Schools in ondo state have alleged school heads of extortion.
The parents said each of the pupils was asked to pay #20,000 before they could be qualified to sit and write the Common Entrance into the Secondary schools
The parents poured their displeasures during a current affairs programme on Fresh FM 102.9 ,Akure on Sunday.
Mrs Adenike Adeola, a parent from Gaga Community Primary School in Akure, said she was asked to pay #10,000 first around December and later compelled her ward to bring additional #8,000 in January which she said she has paid.
Moreso, a parent from St. Catherine Primary School, Ondo said she pays similar amount
However, St. James Anglican Primary School ,Oda town in Akure was not left out as two of its parents said they paid #18,000 each for their wards for the Common entrance examination.
While contacting the Information Officer of the State Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB, Mr Banjo Egunjobi, said the Chairman, Rt Hon Victor Olabimtan, was not aware of such.
It would be recalled that last week, Principals of secondary schools were also alleged of taking extra charges from students which was later denied and clarified by the Head of Principals in the state, Mrs Jogbodo.
He said further that, the official amount is #3000 for the exam
