Stakeholders in Irele Local Government gathered in their political corridor to applaud the credibility and pedigree of Prof. Simidele Odimayo over other aspirants for the forthcoming senatorial election.
They described Prof. Odimayo as a candidate who will truly represent their interests, noting that over the years the zone has not gotten it right due to the imposition of candidates who were not accessible even before they were elected.
They stated that this time around, they desire that all leaders should come together and ensure they elect a good person who will represent their interests effectively and champion the affairs of the zone at the National Assembly for the development of the entire district.
They described Professor Simidele Odimayo as a humble, home-based politician who is always present when needed, attending political meetings, listening to their concerns, and addressing their problems with available resources. In contrast, they described other aspirants as political opportunists who only come home when elections are around the corner and leave afterward.
They added that for over 10 years, some of the aspirants have not attended political meetings in Irele Local Government and have not been present at any functions. Their participation and contributions during congresses and elections in which they are not personally involved are near nil. Hence, they believe such a sensitive position should not be entrusted to such people.
Therefore, they appealed to the Governor and other stakeholders, saying that they cannot afford to get it wrong again. They emphasized the need for synergy between the federal and state governments to transform and advance their area.
This time around, it is not about the business of electioneering, rather, it is about competence, dedication and efficiency. The people insist.
