Benue Security Watch, an independent security network in Benue State has accused Governor Hyacinth Alia of nursing a plan to assassinate the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume over the leadership tussle within the state chapter of the All Progressive Congress.
The security network raised the alarm in a press statement which was made available this morning by its commandant, Comrade Sebastine Akooma.
The group also accused the governor of plotting to use a killer squad organized by a former governor of the State to eliminate two chieftains of the People’s Democratic Party in the state.
According to the group, the chieftains are a former governor of the State, Mr. Samuel Ortom and the Governorship candidate of the opposition party, Mike Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN.
The group stated that the governor was reportedly caught on phone while expressing his fears that he may lose the governorship seat in 2027 of the People’s Democratic Party candidate is not taken out of his way before the election
Benue Security Watch stated further that available and reliable Intel has confirmed Alia’s worries over the strategic partnership between Senator George Akume and the leader of the People’s Democratic Party in the state, Hon. Samuel Ortom.
The group accused some security agents in the state of working together with the governor to perfect his assassination plans on the trip of Akume, Ortom and Aondoakaa.
The group however called on the Inspector-General of Police, the Director General of the DSS and heads of other relevant security agencies to wake up to task and prevent such occurrence in Benue state.
The group also raised worries that assassinations are being planned over a mere governorship election which nobody knows who will win in 2027.
The security network therefore said it has sent an official petition about the plot to the IGP and the DG of the DSS.
