As Akure speaking communities are set to celebrate this year’s ULEFUNTA Festival , the Chairman of the planning committee, Olu Ajanaku , has dismissed peoples believe over the occasion ,as beeing fetish.
Ajanaku, the Olu of Oke Lisa Tuntun, a retired Director with the Department of State Security Service(DSS) cleared air over what many term as fetish and probably , traditionally inclined .
Ajanaku, an High Chief , emphasized that the festival is done to celebrate culture and assembling sons and daughters of Akure speaking communities for unity and development.
The planning Committee Chairman had earlier appreciated committee members for their relentless efforts making the events a huge one.
Other committee Chairmen, Hon Akinola Daramola , Mr Bankola Alade , an Assistant Director with the State Security Service (rtd) , Mr Lawrence Adegbehingbe,an Olympic Medalist, were all on ground breaking down how the event will unphold.
According to the breakdown , male and female Marathon race will rent the air on 15th August, 2026, as part of the activities lined up for the program.
The starting point of the event takes up from Imafon-School of Nursing – Arcade – Governor’s office – CBN – Nepa – Olukayode round about – Gbangbalogun- Isinkan roundabout – Iralepo Palace – Cash Hold – Deji’s palace.
Day 1 – Traditional Rulers to pay homage to Deji. After which the floor shall be for all artists
Day 2 – Festival colloquium @FUTA by 9: am with the theme : Wealth Creation & National Devt. with essay competition among National Association Of Akure Students where the winner shall coast home the sum of #150,000.
Day 3 – there shall be health outreach in collaboration with FUTA-Teaching Hospital with Prof Dr Alabi and Dr Taiwo Fasonranti
Day 4 – Conferment of Chieftancy titles on Iyaloja General , Mrs Tinubu Ojo as Yeye Gbadega Of Akure Kingdom
Day 5 – Grand finale paying homage to Deji and Parade @ democracy park
Day 6 – Thanksgiving service at St David’s Anglican Church ,Ijomu Akure.
