Prince Adewole Adebayo, the 2027 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, has mourned the death of Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, CON, saying Nigeria has lost an experienced leader and statesman of remarkable accomplishment.
Adebayo, in a condolence message, described Tukur as a distinguished Nigerian whose contributions to public administration, business, national politics and African development would remain firmly etched in the country’s history.
He said the late statesman devoted a substantial part of his life to the service of Nigeria and the African continent.
According to him, Tukur’s record across government, business and politics reflected a lifelong commitment to national progress and development.
Adebayo also spoke of his personal encounters with the deceased, recalling that their paths crossed through his investments in Adamawa State, efforts at promoting indigenous shipping and the implementation of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development, NEPAD, mandate.
He said: “Personally, I had the privilege of working with this true and illustrious Nigerian personage in relation to my investments in his beloved state of Adamawa, in the area of promotion of indigenous shipping and in the implementation of the mandate of the New Partnership for African Development, NEPAD, under his leadership.”
The SDP presidential candidate noted that Tukur’s passing represented a loss not only to his family and Adamawa State but to Nigerians who witnessed his long years of public and private service.
“At this moment of grief, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, the government and people of Adamawa State, his friends, associates and all Nigerians who mourn this great loss,” Adebayo said.
He added: “Nigeria has lost an experienced leader and statesman of remarkable accomplishment. May his legacy continue to inspire present and future generations to dedicate themselves to the service of humanity and the development of our beloved country.”
