A former aide to Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Yetunde Adefuwa, has announced plans to lead a massive protest in Akure this week, calling for the removal of the Ondo State Commissioner for Finance, Mrs. Omowunmi Isaac.
Adefuwa, who hails from Ondo South Senatorial District, made the announcement through a series of posts and a video shared on social media, where she urged residents and political stakeholders to join what she described as a movement to “protect our own (Aiyedatiwa).”
In one of her posts, she wrote: “Join us in AKURE this week for a massive protest, we will lead the cause to protect our own (Aiyedatiwa).”
In another post, she declared: “Enough is Enough, Commissioner for Finance must go. We cannot continue to discuss this behind the scenes.”
Speaking in a video, the former aide insisted that her decision to mobilise supporters was not borne out of opposition to the administration but by her desire to see the government succeed.
“I’m not against the government. I really want this government to succeed. It’s not about whether I’m benefiting from the government or not. I’m from Ondo South. I want this government to succeed,” she said.
She also appealed to political leaders and stakeholders to pay attention to concerns being expressed by party members and supporters.
According to her, “Can we all come together and tell our own that things are not good outside there? We should all come together. This is our time. I want this government to succeed.”
Adefuwa further stated that her position was driven by what she described as the need to ensure the administration delivers on its mandate and enjoys broad public support.
As of the time of filing this report, details of the proposed protest, including its exact venue and time, had not been officially disclosed beyond her call for supporters to converge in Akure this week.
The Ondo State Commissioner for Finance, Mrs. Omowunmi Isaac, had not responded to Adefuwa’s comments or calls for her removal as of the time of filing this report.
